Ric Flair vs. MVP (With Ric Flair’s career on the line)
It kills me to say this, but it’s past the time where Flair can be in charge of calling a match. The match wasn’t bad but it wasn’t pay per view quality either. No brainer Flair would win and it was nice to see him get the clean victory for a change. Now the biggest question? Who gets him at Mania?

Backstage Vince has another creepy heart to heart talk with his bastard son before Finlay picks him up…literally. Surprisingly this is the only time we see Vince tonight. That’s…odd. I guess that means we’ll see 40 minutes of him on Raw to make up for it.

JBL vs. Y2J
I loved the build for this match. One would imagine how huge Y2J would be right now if the Orton/Jericho program was developed in the same manner. Either way the match was building up to be another great Bradshaw type brawl but Jericho gets DQed for blasting JBL in the head with a chair. Nice work by JBL for not blocking the chair with his hands and awesome blade job by Jericho. They are manly men!
I understand why they had the ending they did, but I hate screw job endings at pay per views. I paid 40 bucks, let me get a winner. I’m curious to see if they want to drag this out until WrestleMania. Even more curious to see how they do it!

World Title Match
Edge vs. Rey Mysterio
Awesome introduction announcing both men while inside the ring. It gives the match a big fight atmosphere. The match itself was pretty good with some blown spots by Rey here and there. Does it make anybody else nervous that Rey has so much more muscle mass than Edge? I don’t know what to say, either get Edge’s ass in the weight room, or get Rey’s ass off the HGH.
Let me get this rant off my chest. New York fans, I hate you. Along with Philly, L.A, Chicago and any other town that enjoys booing faces and cheering heels. Explain this to me, how does one of the most hated heels the last 10 years in Edge…get cheered? How is it that a man who steals other men’s women, and openly make’s out with a dead mans widow get cheered? Not just some dead man, Eddie Guerrero!!!! Does he have to cut a promo in a cave with Osama Bin Laden while holding an AK47 to get booed by you people?
Sorry but the fans ruined the match for me (as they did Cena vs. HHH at Mania). A match consists a simple formula that has everything to do with the crowd reacting a certain way. When they react like idiots, the match doesn’t make sense. You can’t have Rey fighting his hardest to have a come back…and get booed for it.
Back to the wrestling, nobody expected Rey to win and he didn’t. The ending was sweet though, with Vicky holding Edge so she received the brunt of the 619 (which the crowd pops for…idiots) and Edge spearing Rey in mid air from the springboard.

Mr. Kennedy and Flair have a confrontation planting the seeds for a possible Mania match. I like that one. HBK comes in as Kennedy leaves, then Batista, then Triple H. Wow what a set of wrestlers huh? Well get Batista out of there and replace him with Austin you know what I mean. I have to admit I marked out for that segment. Woooooooooo.
Maria comes to the ring to do her kiss cam in HD. One of the few times I’m grateful for not having HD. Ashley comes down to the ring because she REALLY wants her in playboy. Why does she want her in so bad? I would give a leg to find out. Santino comes down and brilliantly taunts the crowd so good that it would make Buh Buh Ray Dudley in his ECW days proud. Santino is my hero. Nice little filler segment before the WWE Title match.
WWE Title Match
Randy Orton vs. Jeff Hardy
I can’t recall a wrestler picking up as much steam as Jeff Hardy has in the last two months. If you recall it all really started when he was teaming with Triple H for a few weeks, then actually beating Triple H at the Armageddon. Ever since then his stock has only rised.
The match itself was decent, basically just a spot fest to get over Hardy’s high flying moves. I was hoping they would go at least 20 minutes, but I’m not sure if they could physically do it. Ending was very slick but rather anticlimactic with Orton reversing the Twist of Fate into the RKO. So what was the real point of this Jeff Hardy push? Just to feed someone else to Orton? It already killed Jericho, hopefully they have something else for Hardy.

The Royal Rumble Match
Well my prediction went down the drain when Undertaker came out #1. Don’t worry, he’ll still be fighting Edge at Mania. The Rumble was nothing spectacular but I was getting very worried when Triple H was the only real contender in the ring. I don’t want him in the main event of WrestleMania. And then, JOHN CENA enters at #30. Believe me when I said Holy Shit, it was a Holy Shit moment. The crowd goes insane until they realize that they cheer Edge, so they immediately start booing Cena. Final two leaves everybody in suspense until John Cena eliminates Triple H to win this year’s rumble.
John Cena wins at 51:33
Kudos to WWE for being able to keep Cena a surprise. Nobody had a clue and it was a classic Royal Rumble moment. Just going through some of the message boards it gives me great pleasure seeing all the Cena haters complain. He is this generations Hogan/Austin, stop crying about him in the main event. He’s going to be there for a very long time.
My only concern is him coming back before he is physically ready. Early reports had him actually missing WrestleMania, and how he’s winning The Rumble?
Decent Rumble I guess. The huge Cena comeback made the show memorable. I don’t know what’s better, two Santino segments or no women’s match. Either way The Road to WrestleMania has begun.

I totally agree with the Edge cheering. It was a huge reversal from what I saw at the Izod Center house show a month ago. I've never seen Mysterio booed. But since I liked Edge since the Brood I went a long with it!
Santino is gold on the mic. He got huge heat for bashing the NY teams and got a huge lets go Giants chant going.
The Rumble Match:
A lot of people in my section were upset with Cody Rhodes getting 20 mins in the Rumble. I liked the start though. Having the last two guys from the 07 Rumble start this one. I was thinking one of them could go all the way. The crowd was thinking Big Show or HHH would win it all. I was a little shocked when HBK and Taker were knocked out about half way through. It was good to have some vets in there.
Speaking of vets....Dreamer got a hugeee pop. NY still remembers the ECW days and I got to join in on my first "true" ECW chant. Felt good. Too bad he only got about 2 mins in the match.
I liked seeing Snuka and Piper in the rumble. I was thinking Brooklyn Brawler would be in somewhere. I actually lost a bet on that one.
Hornswaggle was never eliminated.....the match is technically still going on.
How do you get DQed in the Rumble Finley? Remember when they got to use garbage cans in the match?
I liked the build up before the match though with the "Numbers" promo.
The WWE title match.
As soon as I got there I started looking for things for Hardy to jump off of.
MSG is pretty limited with what you can do in terms of a set but I still liked it.
The overall feeling was "its a night of heels. so a face had to win the rumble"
Great points. The MSG set is really limited and I'm amazed they didn't have a bigger setup considering the massive promotion behind HD.
Speaking of the rumble match...I marked out huge when Foley and HHH were going at it... Being my favorite match EVER is their street fight from MSG.

Edge being cheered really didn't bother me since this isn't 1980's WWF and the whole system of face/heel is basically almost non-existent nowadays. Everything evolves including wrestling and wrestling fans. Granted, most fans are idiots and only cheer for the top guy today but tomorrow they will boo him.
Me personally, I cheer for Edge because he is a great heel and I have always liked wrestlers who play their parts great. I love that he knows how to make you hate him. Well... I guess that doesn't make sense if people are cheering him because they love to hate him.
Kissing Vicky Guerrero is still fucking sick though.
Rey being booed is retarded though. He'll be cheered on Smackdown and people will act like he was never booed at all for his performance which wasn't bad. So yeah, I agree that fans can be idiots.
Santino is somebody who has a future if Vince stops firing people with talent. Santino is going to be the next Rock.
Cena winning is bullshit. A shocking moment? Okay... look, Cena isn't 100% better and they had him win because of his name, nothing else. But to be honest who else could win it this year? Who have they been pushing that stood a chance? Jeff Hardy? Nope, fighting Orton for whatever fucked up reason. Thats another story. Just wait until the fans turn on him. Anyway, Cena wins because he is a draw to the WWE fans right now. Mainly little kids and women. So on to Wrestlemania to put on a subpar performance with... ugh... Orton...
Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton I guess was better than people thought it would be. Orton still won of course and will hold the belt until Mania where he will drop it to Cena. The Hardy factor is done for and its back to fighting Umaga for you monkey boy.
